Hal S. Chase

Hal S. Chase is a Des Moines native who grew up in segregated Kentucky. He earned a B.A. in history at all-white and male Washington and Lee University, an M.A. in American history from Stanford University and his Ph.D in American Civilization from the University of Pennsylvania. He cares most about African-American history and was a contributor and coordinator for the book Outside In: African-American History in Iowa 1838-2000.
